Nutrition

At around the 6th week of your pregnancy, the baby’s red blood cells start forming and its heart starts pumping. At this stage, you should consume iron-rich food to aid the process. Iron found in non-vegetarian food is more easily absorbed by the body, however, if you are a vegetarian, you can speed up the process of iron absorption by drinking fruit juices like orange juice that are rich in vitamin C.

Sleep

During the first trimester, it is safe for you to sleep in whatever position she feels comfortable in, whether this is on her back, side, or stomach. Any combination of the above positions is also fine.

The uterus has not grown large enough to interfere with sleep. However, hormonal changes, nighttime hunger, nausea, and other pregnancy symptoms may make sleep more difficult

Eating a small meal before bed. Particularly during the first trimester, some of you wake up very hungry. Protein-rich food can reduce appetite, so eating foods such as nuts, fish, peanut butter, and meat before going to sleep may you feel satiated.

Stay Happy & Positive

Week6

Tell a close friend or family member you’re pregnant. It’s comforting to have a confidant to share and commiserate with during the early weeks.

Get extra rest. The fatigue and nausea of the first trimester may be ramping up.

Week 7

Buy a nice water bottle to keep in your bag or on your desk. Water is the easiest remedy and prevention for many pregnancy symptoms, so make it easy for you to keeping drinking throughout the day.

Keep troubleshooting what works to keep the queasies away. Stock up on ginger or mint tea to calm your belly.

Reevaluate your workout. During the third trimester, you may want to modify a bit. Listen to your body.

Week 8

Odors making you want to hurl? Swap out soaps for unscented versions, and wash your clothes often (with unscented detergent, of course).

To calm morning sickness, eat smaller snacks throughout the day rather than larger meals.

Give yourself permission to take a nap and/or go to bed early.

Week 9

Make a plan to announce to friends/work/Facebook/Instagram/your second-grade teacher that you’re expecting.

Pack snack emergency kits and put them where you need them most.

Clear your calendar of any unnecessary appointments or social engagements over the next few weeks. Give yourself extra time to rest and permission to take extra care of yourself until you’re closer to the second trimester. Chances are you’ll feel more like yourself soon.

Week 10

Review your employer’s maternity leave policy and plan how to tell work you’re pregnant.

Start thinking about your budget and savings plan for pregnancy and the first year of baby’s life.

Buy a couple of reliable maternity bras. Bonus points if they can double as nursing bras when the time comes (in case you decide to breastfeed).

Things To Buy

Sure, there’s a lot of other stuff out there. But this is really all you need to get through those nine long months.
